Feminist e-celebrity and sex vlogger Laci Green has long been controversial, but until recently I was unaware that there were allegations that she was jewish.

It turns out that she admitted as such on Twitter when she wrote the following on 31^st March 2013:

‘Somehow in our jewish/atheist household easter fell through the cracks.  how am i gonna eat 10 pounds of chocolate now.’ (1)

Now this directly suggests that Laci Green is jewish given that she has previously openly confessed to her disdain for religion (2) and saying that she is part of a ‘jewish/athiest’ household necessarily suggests that she is ethnically jewish but doesn’t adhere to Judaism. Otherwise why would she disdain religion but identify with one?

However the following quote which is commonly attributed to her:

‘…Okay. SO. I am jewish. I do not keep kosher. But. But. I’ve been seeing this stuff quite a bit lately, where there are people talking about how, people don’t follow everything in leviticus, come on, what sort of crazy person follows leviticus and the old testament at all, really, I mean, Christians are smarter than that. And seriously, FUCK YOU. ALL OF YOU WHO SAY THIS SHIT. Because no. There is plenty of bullshit in the new testament too, and in the things that people do in fact use it for. And a lot of people, people who are *gasp* not Christian, do follow parts of the old testament. But it turns out that a lot of Jews don’t need a new testament to tell them that some of the rules in leviticus should not be followed. We don’t need that, and implying that people do is really rude. Remember, it isn’t just your holy book. It was ours first, and the parts of it that you keep calling dumb are our Torah, and it isn’t okay to act like the people who follow Jesus are suddenly way smarter because the rest of us couldn’t figure this out if we didn’t have that guidance.’ (3)

This was in fact not written by her, but rather by a Tumblr user called ‘eraofstories’. Who is responding to a short comment of ‘Yelp’ and two social justice memes re-blogged on Tumblr by Laci Green.  (4) ‘Eraofstories’ is herself jewish and identifies as such, (5) while also documenting her demented hatred of Christians and Christianity in the ‘About’ section of her Tumblr page (also strongly evidenced in the quote attributed to Laci Green). (5)

However, to conclude: the fact is that Laci Green is probably jewish, but the common quote used to evidence this has been incorrectly attributed to her.
